I met Eleana last year. She is a newer friend of mine, but she knows me extremely well. Probably much better than most people know me.
How?
After we met each other at a PR event, Eleana read my blog.
All of it. Starting from December 19, 2006.
Who does that? And who tells you that she did this and then asks you to dinner? And who accepts a dinner invitation from somebody who did this?
We do. Yes, we do. This is how two random crazy Taiwanese girls who love to eat and take pictures and laugh became friends.
I am so lucky. My dear Eleana is a little spitfire -- warm, positive, outspoken, energetic, and super-duper fun. She reminds me of my younger, less jaded self. It is refreshing to be friends with somebody like Eleana. But Eleana is more than just another friend; she is an ardent supporter of me, my blog, my expression, and my happiness.
You see, Eleana knows that I used to write. A lot. I wrote all sorts of nonsense and seriousness and everything in between. Words used to pour onto this screen at breakneck speed and were published with mailman-like consistency. Every time I see Eleana, she encourages me to tell stories again.
Well, this blog rebirth is for you, Eleana, and for all of you who have stuck with me throughout the years.
Thank you, guys.
Food and travel will remain the primary focus. There will still be lots of photos. But I'm going to do my best to entertain you with more words like I did long ago.
Because let's be real -- as good as it is for you, it's even better for me.
hooray!
ReplyDeleteHip hop hooray!

ReplyDeleteI think I like this Eleana person.
ReplyDeleteEleana is very lovable!
DeleteYay!
ReplyDelete!!! You're still reading! :)
DeleteI'm SO glad you're going to start writing again! Is it pathetic that I got a little teary reading your post? Yeah, it probably is, but I don't care. It's one of the nicest things anyone has written about me.
ReplyDeleteYour blog posts from the beginning provided me so many hours of entertainment, making me laugh out loud at times. So awkard when I'm trying to stealth-read at work. Can't wait to read your amazing posts again and learn more randon facts about you (and your husband, your father-in-law, your brother, etc).
Now you made ME teary. ;)
DeleteYahoo!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're still here, too! <3
DeleteYay!!! I've always loved your writing!!!

ReplyDeleteYes! Speaking of which, it sure has been a long time since we last saw each other!
DeleteHOLLERRRRRRRR!!! I'm so glad you're going to write again. I was so sad that a series of unfortunate events led you away from sharing more personal stories, but I'm so happy that you have rediscovered your love of writing and are going to share it with us :)
ReplyDeleteOMG, that series of unfortunate events. I'm so tempted to write about THAT. Gah!
DeleteI am delurking to tell you how excited I am to read your words again:) I want to thank you for your blogging comeback, but I think the person I should really thank is Eleana<3 I can't wait to hear your happenings again!!

DeleteHi! I'm here in the shadows, still loving your blog. Keep on keepin' on, dear Monkey! It's a joy for me to sit in my land of suburbia and live vicariously through your culinary adventures and travel Ninja scores. I do also miss the snippets of your more personal posts as well. Miss your infectious laugh and hope you are well.
ReplyDeletevenn! OMG!!! I'm in suburbia now, too. That's actually another post for later this week! I recently reconnected with Jane. I really think we should do the same. :)

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for reading all these years!

ReplyDeleteSo demanding, Jen! LOL.
DeleteYou just made my day! I've missed your blog and have plenty of LA trips coming up. Can I request a review of Red Medicine?
ReplyDeleteTa-da!
DeleteYay! Glad to know you're coming back to us! Ha, I've read your whole blog too, but don't worry (or sorry!) I'm on the east coast! :) Looking forward to reading more of your fun and tasty tales!
ReplyDeleteI am seriously impressed (and flattered and honored) by anybody who has ready my whole blog. Thank you!
DeleteHa, I read it all when I was in a particularly boring job, it made my days a lot more interesting! But I did have to fight off some serious cravings for Asian food during that time. :) Your pictures made (and make) everything look so amazing. Even things I'd never dare to order!
DeleteExcellent! More text, more pictures, more food, more Monkeys!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are the best.
DeleteYay! Your blog started on my birthday.
ReplyDeleteBut enough about me. I am glad that you'll be blogging more and about more stuff. I would like to request a recap of the last time your grandma took you shopping. That was the saddest I've been since the blog switched to food only.
Ok, I'm exaggerating. But you get my point (:
A grandma shopping post is long overdue and an excellent idea!
DeleteI will never be Eleana, for one I am mexican....
ReplyDeleteThis is the GREATEST news ever!
Woohoo! When I have to find a restaurant to try, I hit your blog up first, and then yelp.
ReplyDeleteI am so honored! :)
Deletefantastico news! whenever I need a restaurant reco you know I make a first stop here to see if you've been!
ReplyDeleteI'm a little behind, so, if you don't see something, feel free to ask me on Twitter, Facebook, or Gmail, too!
DeleteI am happy you are back and blogging (and writing lots!). I look forward to lots of entertaining reading :)
ReplyDeleteI hope to entertain you! Thanks for reading!
DeleteI'm glad you're "back!" I understand your reasons, but I wish you didn't truncate your posts for blog readers. Yours is one of the few I'm still holding on to. Can't wait to see what you eat next!
ReplyDeleteI'm very behind, but this is great news!
