Craft is solid. You know it's so when we take my mother there for Mother's Day.
I met PDX and A.J. for dinner at Craft during a dineLA week. We waited and waited and waited for insomniac. She never showed up. She was at the movies because she forgot about our dinner!
Oh, insomniac.
Bar None -- muddled plum, ginger beer, mint ($7).
I love when there are fun non-alcoholic drinks available. Yay!
For $44, we got all the items below served family-style, except for the entrees and desserts, which we each selected for ourselves...and then shared anyway, of course!
Braised octopus, mint vinaigrette.
Thrilling. Yes, thrilling! So tender and perfect!
Chicory salad, Asian pear, balsamic.
Refreshing.
Wild skate wing, Anson Mills grits, walnut.
This is how fish should be done. Beautifully crisp outside. Flaky yet succulent inside.
Roasted Colorado leg of lamb, cranberry bean, Tuscan kale.
Huge and meaty! Greedy! Greedy! This cut was so gorgeous.
Braised beef cheek, Yukon Gold potato puree, orange.
Melt-in-your-mouth luscious and rich.
Market vegetables.
Fresh and glorious.
Italian butternut squash puree.
Like buttah!
Chocolate panna cotta, hazelnut crumble.
The contrast between the crunch of the crumble and the creaminess of the panna cotta worked wonderfully.
Spiced pear shortcake, cajeta ice cream, candied pecans.
Oh, my gosh! Magical! Flaky! Buttery! Nutty! Gooey! Cinnamon-y!
Mignardise.
Going to Craft during dineLA is great. You get stuff like bonus caramel corn and s'mores at the end of your meal. Everything is delicious, and it is quite the deal.
You really missed out, insomniac.
I'm getting to be a pro at discovering restaurants with good nonalcoholic drinks.
ReplyDeleteI loved CraftSteak in Las Vegas but found Crat during DineLA to be a bit disappointing ... I know you're getting apps, sides and desert with your $44 but the entree portions were so small! Esp compared to the regular size massive steak they usually give.
ReplyDeletelolz to insomniac.
ReplyDeleteneed to go there with the bear since he didn't keep down his craftsteak dinner. :P
When I went for dinela a few years back the portions were tiny, the food was cold, and didn't taste all that good. I'm glad your experience was better than mine.
ReplyDeleteHILARIOUS that insom forgot about dinner!
