Our dear friend Ms. Cruiser gave us this sleeve of Paulette macarons on Friday.
I clapped my hands with delight when Mr. Monkey handed me the box. No, really, I actually clapped my hands. I've mentioned it before. I have a serious macaron problem.
Look at these beauties: caramel, tangerine(?), pistachio, coffee, passion fruit, coconut.
Mr. Monkey and I shared each one, so both of us could savor every flavor.
Wow. WOW! So delicate. So beautiful. So perfect. So get in mah belly.
I favored the caramel, pistachio, and coffee. Mr. Monkey couldn't decide which he liked most. "I like them all. They're all awesome." It's true. They are indeed all awesome.
The current Monkey Macaron Standings:
Paulette > Payard > Jin Patisserie > Bouchon > Euro Pane >>>>> Bottega Louie
I have a new favorite macaron place, and I haven't even been there yet.
Thank you so much, Ms. Cruiser.
ditto! i LOVE them. and only have had them as a gift, still haven't visited. too far from the freeway. :P
ReplyDeleteYum! Almost too pretty to eat.
ReplyDeleteThey are so eye-appealing!
ReplyDeletethose look pretty amazing. i've only had really sweet ones in the past which made me go yuck :(
ReplyDeletehaha, your word verifications said "commi" and i thought of chairman mao. too early.
This was my favorite food purchase from our L.A. trip last year. When I got home I immediately looked up how to get these pieces of heaven to my doorstep. $70 including shipping. GAH! Are they worth it?
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE, LOVE Paulette. took my little ones there last summer and between the three of us, we ate so many of their salted caramel and jasmine macarons.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Paulette! You must go to their little store...it's so damn cute. I was like a kid in a candy store. And they let you take pics too. :)
ReplyDeleteThey are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a macaron in years. Years. I should change this.
ReplyDeleteyummmmmmy! Lucky you. I'll go with you to Paulette :) First time :)
ReplyDeleteI *think* I've had those before, and they're delish!
ReplyDeleteI've recently discovered that a French bakery literally around the corner from me not only makes breads daily for a bunch of fancy LA restaurants, but they also make amazing macarons.
LOOOVE paulette's macarons! So much better than Jin's and Little Next Door, et all!
ReplyDeleteI think I've finally realized why I hate macarons. They look like little burgers. When I bite them, I want burger taste. But instead it's caramel and chocolate and other such frivolousness. Now if someone were to make a ham flavored macaron, I'd be bout it bout it.
ReplyDeleteYup. I totally didn't get the macaron obsession until I tried Paulette's.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I've always wanted to try Paulette's macarons.
ReplyDeleteI am the biggest fiend for anything passion fruit. I wanna try that one!
ReplyDeleteI swear I had something witty to say, but I can't stop laughing at insom's comment. threw me all off-track and stuff.
ReplyDeleteThese are definitely my favorites! My memory of them is slightly tainted by the parking ticket that we got there, though...
ReplyDeletehave you tried the macarons from europane in pasadena? not bad. but, i must try these from paulette. heard so many great things! btw, did i read correctly somewhere that you went to alaska recently? am considering going there someday for vacation... would love your usual awesome recaps and photos !!
ReplyDeleteI want some too....I love macarons!
ReplyDeletei loooove paulettes! i finished a whole dozen by myself once... seriously.. all of it =X
ReplyDeleteWhat nice friends. I like the fruity flavors best. Raspberry and passion fruit are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteThose look so delicious right now.
