What blogger doesn't love stats on her own blog? Tracking minutes spent reading, comments posted, reader locations, and IP addresses is a blast!
Ok, so maybe I need to get out more.
But this amuses me.
Relative to the general Internet population, 25-34 year-olds, college-educated people, and childfree people are "greatly overrepresented" in my readership, while males and people who browse at home are "greatly underrepresented."
Who reads your blog? Or, if you don't have a blog, do you fit any of these categories as one of my readers?
Tracking stats is awesome. I especially love seeing what people are Googling to land on my site. I interviewed comedienne Rachel Reenstra for her candidacy in the Murphy Goode winery contest, and now I get a lot of hits from people searching "Rachel Reenstra boobs." No joke. Sorry to disappoint, folks!
ReplyDeleteBut my stat tracker doesn't cover demographics -- which app/plugin are you using?
Can you find all of this out through google analytics or are you using another program? Someone is going to have to educate me on finding IP addresses! (Wish we could do that on TN!) :) LOL.
ReplyDeleteI fit your demo except I have 2 babies :)
Oooh, my stats are not this fancy.
ReplyDeleteBut except for my age (I'm only 24), I am basically your average reader.
I'm 25, college educated, and childfree!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how your stat counter takes into account google reader - I know that seems to throw off a lot of them.
ReplyDeleteI think I need to upgrade my stat tracker! But that is cool, if not completely predictable. ;o)
ReplyDeleteadd me to the list of peeps who want to know what tracker you're using. that's super cool, says this fellow stats-tracking nerd.
ReplyDeleteI fit your demo as I am 27, female, college educated, child free, BUT I read from home!
ReplyDelete29, masters degree, and child free. I read from home and work.
ReplyDeleteCollege-educated and child free representin'!
ReplyDeletecheck, check, and check!
ReplyDeleteOMG, I'm totally a statistic.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, that is some fancy stats!
ReplyDeleteI'm in college now, 22, female, and no children (thank freaking god).
40 years from now, I shall still be child-free...
I have no idea who reads my blog!! Probably my friends and the occasional person I don't know! It would be fun to know..
ReplyDeleteNext year I'll be one of your "old" readers, but as of now I fit that demographic.
ReplyDeleteShooot. I don't think wordpress provides this entertaining information. I wish I could just snap my fingers and switch to blogger.
ReplyDeleteHaha, sweet, where did you get the stats from?
ReplyDeleteI don't think my Analytics does it, but maybe I just haven't looked enough. I only get off seeing keyword searches like "macin your own house"
I fit into all 5 categories. Guess you could call me your stereotypical reader. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat program do you use to track your viewers' demographics?
ReplyDeleteguilty as charged. awesome. i should figure out how to get those stats.
ReplyDeleteNo one reads my blog anymore. That is my fault though. Has nothing to do with education levels or what's packed in their bathing suit area.
ReplyDeletestat nerd here loves this. i fit your average reader quite perfectly.
ReplyDeleteno one reads my blog anymore. wah wah. my/school's fault.
