Is your car dirty? Want to have a decent Mexican lunch while you get a car wash?
Go to Macho Cafe (830 E. Mission Road, San Gabriel) right across from Mission Car Wash.
It's small. It's cheap. It's quick.
The only drawback is that a crazy jukebox blares intermittently.
Aguas frescas -- jamaica, horchata, limonada.
Best part? Free refills.
Two soft tacos plate ($4.99).
Cheese enchiladas plate ($4.99).
Filete de pescado a la plancha ($7.99).
Camarones.
Machaca con huevos. Breakfast served all day here!
Not much commentary necessary. I mainly go for the convenience and the prices.
Dang - 5 bucks for lunch? Fantastico!
ReplyDeletewow, everything looks really tasty :)
ReplyDeleteAnd quite cheap.
My car is dirty, but the nearest place that washes AND serves food (which kinda creeps me out) isn't too close.
ReplyDeleteyou FAKED ME OUT! I thought it was gonna be literally a Mexican taco stand inside a car wash. Seem quite a few of them as well...
ReplyDeleteNow I have "Macho Macho Man" in my head. Thanks, monkey.
ReplyDeleteLooks good to me. Love those prices, too.
ReplyDeleteTasty & cheap while you wait for your car wash? Mmkay!
ReplyDeleteMachaca is my weakness. Love em without eggs :-)
ReplyDeleteI love saying "horchata."
ReplyDeleteThat's all I've got, Macho Macho Woman.
Dear Lord, how I miss Mexican food!! I'd cut a bitch for a good burrito right now.
ReplyDeleteHa, waiting at the Mission Car Wash does take a LONG time. I always remember back in the day where we would go basically spend almost two hours waiting at the Mission Car Wash, and enjoy a small ice cream cone while we waited. Should have visited here instead of having the ice cream!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I thought you were going to be eating inside your car. Imagined photos of sudsy windows while eating tacos.
ReplyDeleteGreat prices, and what efficient use of your time too, lol. I love me a clean car and a full tummy.
ReplyDeleteCar wash lunches rule. But that jukebox is just creepy.
ReplyDeleteMmm, cheap and looks like authentic deliciousness! I only thought you ate at fancy restaurants from all your posts. I always wonder, is it your job to review restaurants?
ReplyDeleteyum. encheeladas. and a car wash. good multi-tasking oppt.
ReplyDeleteI give you a lot of credit for not being a snob about places to try to eat at. That's a very MM meal.
