On Friday night, Wandering Chopsticks and I attended In Bed Together, an exhibit curated by Jane Glassman featuring 50 works by 50 different artists at the Royal/T Cafe.
While we were waiting to get our names checked off, a woman asked us what the exhibit was all about. I told her, "I don't know. I'm here for the food."
Ludo Bites in da hizzy!
What is Ludo Bites?
Per the website, Ludo Bites is "a guerilla-style pop-up restaurant event created by Chef Ludo Lefebvre." My interpretation -- he commandeers dinner at willing restaurants in L.A.
Some of you may remember Chef Ludo Lefebvre as the hot young tattooed French chef on Top Chef Masters -- he's the dude who made pig ear quesadillas, while eventual winner Chef Rick Bayless triumphed with tongue tacos in that episode.
Look at Chef Ludo, hard at work in a glass box!
Scallops and pineapple.
An odd combination that tasted good! Nice and refreshing amidst so many warm bodies.
Buckwheat crepe with goat cheese and bacon jam.
Tres yummy. So popular that they couldn't keep up with the crowd.
These two bites simply weren't enough! I'm so excited that three lucky friends and I will be experiencing Ludo Bites during its sold-out 13-day stint at Royal/T Cafe. This is particularly sweet because I couldn't score a reservation during the last Ludo Bites at Breadbar because a bunch of greedy bastards made a billion reservations, leaving the rest of us Ludo-less.
Much of the In Bed Together exhibit was bright and dynamic.
I loved the Murakami and the Toblerone homage.
Royal/T Cafe provided alcohol and little appetizers to the masses.
The place was packed.
And then we spied these scantily clad folks.
It turned out to be a photo booth by Polite in Public. Don't you just love this guy?
I didn't love this next guy. I called him out. He replied, "I waited earlier, and I'm back."
Really? That's not how lines work, asshole.
But I finally got my photo.
Totally worth the wait. Thanks again to Wandering Chopsticks for having me as her +1!
Looks like a fun event! I'd go for the picture alone! hehe
