Is your car dirty? Want to have a decent Mexican lunch while you get a car wash?
Go to Macho Cafe (830 E. Mission Road, San Gabriel) right across from Mission Car Wash.
It's small. It's cheap. It's quick.
The only drawback is that a crazy jukebox blares intermittently.
Aguas frescas -- jamaica, horchata, limonada.
Best part? Free refills.
Two soft tacos plate ($4.99).
Cheese enchiladas plate ($4.99).
Filete de pescado a la plancha ($7.99).
Camarones.
Machaca con huevos. Breakfast served all day here!
Not much commentary necessary. I mainly go for the convenience and the prices.

Hello Cougar
Can you believe Hello Kitty is 35 years old? She doesn't look a day over three.
The Three Apples exhibit at the Royal/T Cafe celebrated all things Hello Kitty for a few weeks. Glam, Wandering Chopsticks, and I successfully avoided all the crowds on a Thursday night earlier this month. While other people waited for hours and hours on weekends, we just sauntered right in.
I'll start with the Hello Kitty-themed food that we ate.
Hello Kitty's Kawaii High Tea ($25).
This assortment of sweets and savory canapes was pricey, but oh so cute.
It wasn't the greatest food, but we enjoyed it for the fun factor.
Wandering Chopsticks is stealth. That's why she is Princess Heartface here.
Super Yummy Waffles ($7).
That was the menu's description, not mine. Again, cuter than it was tasty.
In addition to Hello Kitty treats, WC and I shared kobe beef sliders served three ways -- quail egg up, tomato chutney, and bleu cheese with caramelized onions ($12).
Not bad. #3 was my fave.
Glam noshed on a grilled miso chicken salad ($10).
The chicken was tender, moist, and steeped in miso -- best dish of the night.
And now I present more Hello Kitty than you can shake a stick at.
Yeah, I'm a dork who wore my Tarina Tarantino Pink Head Gothic Lolita necklace to a Hello Kitty event. It was kinda like the time I wore Patagonia in Patagonia.
