********THIS RESTAURANT IS NOW CLOSED.********
We were excited that we had an affordable Michelin-starred restaurant in our hotel.
Tasteful decor but nothing too exciting.
Amuse bouche.
The cucumber soup was cool and lovely but not as green as I thought it'd be.
We opted for the prix fixe deal -- appetizer, entree, and dessert for $59. We also ordered an extra starter for kicks.
Chesapeake Bay soft shell crab, Thai-spiced papaya salad, basil mint, mango mustard ($19).
Fantastic. But soft shell crab is rarely not fantastic in my book. Loved the light crunch.
PRIX FIXE MENU ($59)
Twice-baked Maytag bleu cheese souffle, marinated apricot, crumbled bleu cheese, Sausalito Springs watercress.
Absolutely delightful. We both selected this as our appetizer, which we rarely do. We were very glad we did. Flaky and cheeeeeeeeeeeserrific.
Duroc pork loin, grilled corn succotash, hush puppies, creamed corn.
Like a yummy Southern plate but swankified. The pork was tender and flavorful. The creamed corn rocked. And I wish there'd been more hush puppies.
Pan-roasted Alaskan halibut, peppernade, shaved fennel, marjoram yogurt.
Very thoughtfully prepared. Moist and substantial.
Banana upside-down cake, toffee sauce, vanilla bean ice cream.
Not revolutionary but good enough. You'd think a monkey would like bananas more.
Black forest mousse, chocolate crumble, vanilla chantilly.
The bite I had was smooth, but somewhat on the verge of being icy. I have a sneaking suspicion that this was defrosted. If so, tragic and unacceptable. If not, apologies for the accusation.
It was a nice three-course dinner for $59, but it didn't feel Michelin-worthy. At least the price was pretty delicious.
Next: Morning meal and macarons.

That pork looked divine!
ReplyDeletehush puppies....mmmmm....
ReplyDeleteCan they call it hush puppies when they're serving just a puppy? Hush you say? Hush I say!
ReplyDeleteIt's not like there's a shortage of good food in Vegas- you'd almost think the star would mean more there.
ReplyDeleteThe crab and souffle look delicious. Too bad the meal was a tad disappointing.
ReplyDeleteYour mad photography skills makes the so-so meal look luxurious!
ReplyDeleteThoughtfully prepared? I don't know why this made me giggle.
ReplyDeleteMight be off to LV this wknd. Somehow, outpost restaurants with the chef nary in sight just does NOT appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteThumbs up to hush puppies!
ReplyDeleteremember walking by this place last time I went to Vegas.
ReplyDelete...I wish.
Barely was able to convince my family to go to the Bellagio buffet (and it was during the breakfast to lunch transition; cheaper!)
if it makes you feel any better, your pictures make the food look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing this doesn't make you feel better though.
And here I thought most desserts came defrosted. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteThat twice-baked Maytag bleu cheese souffle would definitely be something I'd order and as always, your photography is gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteYour photos make the meal look delicious. And really, for $59 even I can afford to go there :)
ReplyDeleteThat food looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteJust made a reservation for Restaurant Week September 1st. Menu is very similar- can't wait for that blue cheese souffle!
