Fraîche recently started serving brunch.
We sat on the patio, where we admired a Peugeot pepper mill.
While waiting for Brother Monkey and Papa Monkey, Mr. Monkey and I shared a side of French toast with crème anglaise ($4). Warm and fluffy with a nice light and crisp surface. The crème anglaise should have been a tad sweeter.
Mr. Monkey and BroMo both ordered the Royale with cheese, a prime beef burger with Gruyère ($13). Who knew you could get this outside of Pulp Fiction?
The fries were great, but the bun was truly incredible. It was flaky and had cheese baked into it! It was also hollowed out, so that the burger wasn't overpowered by bread.
The juicy prime beef was steeped with herbs and seasoning. Really good.
Papa Monkey savored an omelet with mixed mushrooms, goat cheese, and herbs.
I noshed on a fried egg sandwich with bacon, Gruyère, and aioli and a side of fingerling potatoes. The fingerling potatoes were delicious. The sandwich was tasty but not nearly as satisfying as the Royale with cheese.
Brunch at Fraîche is simple but worthwhile. The prices are reasonable, especially given the quality of the food. Service is friendly and attentive, and sitting on a patio on a sunny day makes everything better.
i'm currently obsessed with fried egg sandwiches. i make one for lunch at least 3 times a week. my cholesterol level must be insane.

ReplyDeleteThe bun is usually my least favorite part of the burger - but that definitely wouldn't be the case here.
