Brother Monkey, Papa Monkey, and I went to India's Oven (7233 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles) Saturday night. It wasn't crowded, which worried me at first.
But the empty seats were deceptive. The takeout business was certainly hopping. People kept coming in and leaving with bags and boxes of food galore. Other patrons soon followed us in and sat down, too.
My mango lassi was cool, sweet, and smooth.
Saag paneer. The original creamed spinach! And cubes of Indian cheese! Really, you can't go wrong with this. It's one of my old faves.
Chicken tikka masala. Who can resist tomato, herbs, and spices?
Shrimp korma. Korma is my very favorite. Creamy and sweet and mellow.
Garlic naan. Always good.
We also ordered lamb vindaloo, but, apparently I've lost my touch. I forgot to take a picture yet again! It was spicy and Papa Monkey's favorite.
I copied Brother Monkey and made separate piles for my different curries.
The lower left red pile is the vindaloo.
If you're looking for decent, reliable Indian fare, this is a good-enough place that won't break the bank. Most dinner entrees range from $9 to $12. Combinations are priced slightly higher.
Mmmmm...vindaloo is my fav! Also any of the Paneers are good to me also...I love spinach!

I used to eat at India's Oven all the time when I lived in West LA, but at the location on Wilshire. They even deliver! It's not the best, but it is good! I've never tried korma as well. Now I must have Indian food for dinner tonight. Yum!
