I love you, Jon Stewart. If you love him, too, go here to thank him for defending marriage equality.
As the Courage Campaign emphasizes:
The only way we are going to be able to repeal Prop 8 in California is by having frank, honest discussions with our friends, family and neighbors about the meaning of marriage -- emphasizing the core argument that, in America, separate is NOT equal.Talk to your friends. Talk to your family. You don't need to change their minds immediately, but getting a conversation started is the first step toward understanding and progress.
The more people talk about same-sex marriage, the more likely we will be able to restore marriage equality to California.
The fight is not over.
I love Jon Stewart!! I saw this and got the email too!!
ReplyDeleteIts so true, and I hope people finally start to realize it!
I haven't watched Jon since the election, but I am going to program my DVR right now.
ReplyDeleteI can personally attest that this is so true. Some people just need a little more exposure to these issues to see that Prop 8 is just plain wrong.
ReplyDeleteI heart Jon Stewart. Awesome post on an awesome blog.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as finals are over I will get back to my regularly scheduled viewings of The Daily Show.
Love this post.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I've stopped talking about this. It is just too upsetting to realize how bigoted and unreasonable some of my friends and family members are. :(
ReplyDeletejon is my future husband.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great conversation - thanks to Jon Stewart and a special thanks to you for reposting it on your blog, and making it even easier for me to share with everyone I know!

ReplyDeleteI heart Jon Stewart!
ReplyDeleteDid I tell you that my Grams got pretty pissed at me for talking to her about all this? I think she wanted to disown me and I'm pretty sure she told her co-workers that my soul is going to burn in hell. She even called ME stupid when I graduated college and she never finished high school. Yeah, fun e-mail conversation. Totally worth having it though if she even thought about it for 5 seconds. :)
"semantics are cold comfort when it comes to humanity." Brilliant. Thanks for posting this.
ReplyDeleteI already loved him, but that made my heart bigger.
I'm changing my handle to Mrs.Stewart.
ReplyDeleteI saw this interview and cheered out loud when Jon Stewart said that.
