A new little Hawaiian smoothie shack recently opened nearby, so we decided to do some reconnaissance. Ok, I decided to do some reconnaissance, and Mr. Monkey was a champ to accompany me.
As we sauntered past Lauren Conrad's school, I couldn't stop laughing about the excessively tree-lined sidewalk. The arboreal monsters were so overgrown that they clipped Mr. Monkey's head.
Our destination, Maui Wowi Hawaiian (501 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles), was campy-licious.
I got a Wistful Waikiki (strawberry, banana, and piña colada), and Mr. Monkey got a Surf's Up (kiwi, lemon-lime, and piña colada).
Unlike those bigger chains, though, Maui Wowi Hawaiian gives you a Buy-10-Get-One-Free card, and, if you bring back the crazy plastic tiki cups above to reuse, you get $1.00 off your drink.
Despite the average taste of the smoothies, for these perks, I'll likely return.
Perks are key. As are drinks with umbrellas.

Remember to take a big handbag to carry your cup back for reuse ... I'm not sure I'd want to be seen walking down the street with one of those.
ReplyDeleteI think the umbrella instantly makes the drink taste better. A dollar off a drink is a lot! Definitely save that cup :)

I've never tried Jamba Juice or Robek's but I'd go to this spot for the cups and perks. :)
