Viva la Villa

Three co-workers and I went to Villa Tepeyac (10005 Rush St., South El Monte) for lunch today.

It wasn't magnificent, but I enjoyed my food. The service is fast and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I'm feeling comfortable enough with certain co-workers now to whip out the iPhone at lunch (but I've yet to muster the courage to put my iPhone right on top of their meals).

The queso con chorizo fundido ($4.50) was perfect with hot fresh tortilla chips.

The soup that came with my meal was interesting. Tasty broth, but I'll opt for salad next time. The gigantic vegetables were just too hard to handle.

My taco and enchilada plate ($8.75) was satisfying. The taco was very good. The fresh-fried shell glistened and had a great crunch, and the cheese was lovely. My enchilada was a bit too salty, though.

I know we'll be back. Even though this was nothing extraordinary, I'm still looking forward to it. Almost everybody at Villa Tepeyac was Mexican, so I conclude the food was fairly authentic. And, you know me -- like I said before, I could eat Mexican everyday!

  4. that soup is, um, different. i like veggies and all, but if they're gonna be that big, i'd rather have them in a salad too.

  6. Whoa. Who puts an entire cob of corn in soup? I wish Mexican was diet food. Then I would be one skinny biotch.

  9. I am such an idiot. No wonder that place looked familiar. I used to go there a couple times a week with my ex who worked across the street from there. :)
