REMINDER: Blog Party #3 is being planned! Join the fun!
It's a pictureless post, but I hope you'll still read. Work was work. If you haven't figured it out already, my job is not the most exciting, but that's what happens when you do something super easy. I like super easy. Exciting is too much for me.
Despite the unexciting nature of my job, I still had such a grand time at lunch today. I didn't go anywhere fancy. I didn't even leave the building. I ate at our cafeteria and met an attorney I hadn't met before, and we had the best time. Along with four other co-workers, we laughed so much and so hard about so many things.
This girl was pretty great. I hereby dub her "Giggles." Giggles is small and bubbly, of Bangladeshi descent, graduated from a similarly-ranked college, and got her law degree from my law school a few years after I did. She has the most infectious laugh that is full of pure unbridled joy (hence my nickname for her). She once pretended to be a Bollywood actress at a cocktail party because she thought saying that she was a lawyer was just too boring. How could you not love her just for that?! So great! I feel like we have a lot in common. I hope Giggles and I become good friends.
I am also slowly discovering that my other co-worker (the guy who was on my journal in law school and is a fellow newbie) is pretty cool. He is growing on me, and we may actually become good friends, too.
It feels good to be welcoming and open-minded. I love to talk. I love to make new friends. I love to talk with new friends.
I talked a whole lot more tonight, too. Jen and Sarah joined me for dinner at the country club. Of course, you already know I love Jen to pieces. As I've said in the past, she gets it, and when you find someone who gets it, you make sure you hold tight to that someone! Sarah is a new friend of mine, and she is so sweet and delightful and has such a refreshing outlook on life. It sounds weird, but I actually feel more vibrant and energetic when I talk with Sarah. I don't know what it is exactly, but I like it.
Both Jen and Sarah live near our country club, so it was the perfect place to get together for a meal. We dined on Caesar salads, filet mignon, citrus chicken, and striped bass with bacon ragout. We ended with creme brulee and apple pie a la mode. We chatted and laughed throughout (except for some weirdness with our server; sorry about that, guys). I hope to have dinner with Jen and Sarah monthly or bi-monthly at the club. It would be a most enjoyable way to help reach our food minimum -- much more fun than ordering lots of food to go!
Today was filled with a lot of conversation and laughter. It was my kind of day.
yay for talking a lot and no pictures. i read it all, of course. ;)
ReplyDeletei'm glad you are making new friends, although i'm not surprised at all. the monkey is rather jolly herself and easy to get along with.
